Jump Scare Rating: Despite the presence of aliens, The Abyss is really not a scary movie. There is one tense scene about half an hour in where the crew investigate the submarine wreck and find some dead bodies and a couple of minor jump scares in the middle parts but nothing that should give the average viewer any problems.
Synopsis: A U.S recovery team attempting to salvage a downed submarine encounters what appears to be an alien aquatic species living deep in the Caribbean Sea.
