Jump Scare Rating: Despite the presence of aliens, The Abyss is really not a scary movie. There is one tense scene about half an hour in where the crew investigate the submarine wreck and find some dead bodies and a couple of minor jump scares in the middle parts but nothing that should give the average viewer any problems.

1:15:54 – Hippy spies on the SEALs attaching the warhead to one of the remote operated vehicles. He tries to go back to warn the others but Coffey is standing right behind him.

1:35:39 – Lindsey attempts to radio for help and gets as far as “Deep Core this is Cab One we need assist…..” before sparks come out of the electronics and the power goes out.
