Jump Scare Rating: Some tension generated through dark music and ominous underwater shots in the early parts of the film. The actual jump scares however are few and far between and all but the most nervous viewers will be able to watch The Shallows without much difficulty.

24:03 – The shark grabs Nancy and pulls her underwater as she tries to get back on her surfboard.

48:35 – A broken surfboard pops out of the water in front of Nancy.

48:59 – A man tries to climb onto the rock that Nancy is stranded on.
